Soichiro Honda The Founder of the Dream
The Honda Motor Company Limited formed in October 1946 in Japan by the self-learned Japanese engineer and industrialist Soichiro Honda (November 17, 1906 - August 5, 1991). The company incorporated on 24th September 1948. Honda is being known as the largest motorcycle manufacturer from the manufacturing year 1959 where they started producing motorcycles in 1955.
In the earlier life, Soichiro Honda worked as a motor mechanic in the Art Shokai garage in the Tokai region, Japan. There he used to tweak car engines to run faster in the motor races. In 1937 Soichiro managed some financial support from one of his known persons Kato Shichirō and founded his own workshop Tōkai Seiki (Eastern Sea Precision Machine Company) to manufacture piston rings for motor engines.

After initial failure and several attempts, he managed a contract to supply piston rings to Toyota but lost that due to the poor quality of his manufactured piston rings. He used to visit the manufacturing factories to understand the secrets of quality manufacturing and quality control processes standardized by Toyota. Later by 1941, Soichiro Honda was able to produce quality piston rings and those accepted by Toyota. Then his manufacturing company Tōkai Seiki formed as an establishment and he could adopt automated processes and employ some unskilled labor.

During the Second World War Soichiro’s manufacturing company Tōkai Seiki was taken under the control of the Japanese Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the car company Toyota took a 40% stake in Tōkai Seiki. Accordingly, Soichiro placed to senior managing director demoting from the president of the company.
Despite that, Soichiro continued developing personal relationships with the technical personnel of Toyota, Nakajima Aircraft Company, and the Imperial Japanese Navy. He also continued aiding other manufacturing companies in the war effort to automate the production system and manufacturing military aircraft propellers, etc.
Later in 1944 Soichiro’s Tōkai Seiki’s Yamashita plant destroyed by a US B-29 bomber attack and collapsed another plant in Itawa in January 1945 by the Mikawa earthquake. Then Soichiro Honda sold all the salvageable remains of those plants to Toyota and moved forward to establish another concern Honda Technical Research Institute in October 1946 and later he tied with his friend Takeo Fujisawa. From there the story of the automobile maker, HONDA begins.
Currently, Honda is the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer by the end of 2019 since 1959. And they are also the world's largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines measured by the per year production volume. Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL) is a joint venture agreement between Honda Motorcycle, Japan, and the legitimate company from Bangladesh Government. Thus it’s a joint venture between Honda Motor Company Limited, Japan, and Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation (State Own Corporation) under The Ministry of Industry, Bangladesh.
The joint venture between the companies signed on September 27, 2012, and the Bangladesh Honda Private Limited company incorporated on December 04, 2012. BHL started its commercial production on November 1, 2013. Initially, BHL started its business operation with the support of two dedicated dealer houses and service centers located in Tangail & Jamalpur.
In support of those two dealer houses, BHL started selling Honda motorcycles and scooters in Bangladesh in December 2013. That time Honda started by showcasing five different models of motorcycles and a model of a scooter in Bangladesh. Right now BHL has nationwide coverage with over 125 dedicated dealer points and service supports.

Now, most of the Honda motorcycles and scooters displayed in Bangladesh are currently manufactured and assembled in Bangladesh. Only a few new models and some premium motorcycle models are imported in CKD & CBU conditions which are also in pipeline to manufacture or assemble in this country.
