VERDICT
Stylish, yet elegant scooters such as the Yamaha Alpha are quite rare. They carry the perfect essence of a scooter and still manage to be cool for the youngsters. Such scooters were quite rare a few years ago. Over the years, the scooter culture has become popular and is making its way into the houses of many. In recent years, people are understanding that scooters are not only unisex but also really cool.
Yamaha is one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world. It is considered as one of the Japanese giants, alongside Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Honda. Yamaha is also one of the top contenders in MotoGP. The most popular motorcycles of Yamaha are Yamaha R1, Yamaha MT07, and the Yamaha FZs series (for Bangladesh)
Key Features:
The Yamaha Alpha comes with a halogen headlight, which is a bit disappointing, considering that most of its competitors are getting LEDs by now. The taillight and indicators are also bulbs. the headlight is of concave shape, which makes it a bit better.
The Yamaha Alpha comes with a pretty big storage space, which allows the rider to put a half-faced helmet in the storage space. The fuel cap is still under the seat, which is obviously an inconvenience when being practical. The front foot space is adequate, and the handlebars are also higher which allows the rider to take tight turns without any hesitation.
The Yamaha Alpha has two variants. The disc variant comes in 5 different colors:
- Dark Blue.
- Light Blue.
- Black.
- Red.
- White.
The designs of the scooters remain the same.
The Yamaha Alpha has been designed keeping the Yamaha Fascino and Yamaha Ray ZR in mind. This bike comes with killer decals like the Ray ZR and simple curves like the Yamaha Fascino. The scooter stands in between both of the above-mentioned scooters.
Physical Attributes:
The Yamaha Alpha is a small and elegant machine. It has a saddle height of 775mm. Which allows riders of 5’3” to comfortably ride the scooter. The leg rest at the front could have had a little more space, but is enough for tall riders to not feel uncomfortable. The scooter has a fuel tank of 5.2liters, which makes it very tough to take it on long rides.

The length, width, height, and weight of the Yamaha Alpha are 1795mm, 700mm, 1125mm, and 102kg. The scooter is one of the lightest of its class, which allows it to be easily flicked from one side to another. The scooter also has a small wheelbase of 1270mm, which brings the question of balancing the scooter at high-speed cornering. Ground clearance with full tank and oil is about 130mm, which is okay for the scooter to pass most speed bumps of the country, except for some.
Engine and Transmission:
The Yamaha Alpha comes with an air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, and 113cc carbureted engine. The engine is quite fuel-efficient and is expected to have a fuel economy of around 45-50kmpl. The engine has a max power of 7.2PS at 7500RPM, and 8.1Nm of torque at 5000RPM. The power is quite less, but the torque is quite a lot, so you can expect fast acceleration whenever you open the throttle.
The Yamaha Alpha comes with a fully automatic gearbox, which makes it very much easy to control. The Automatic CVT engine is expected to have a top speed of about 90KMPH.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Yamaha Alpha comes with a full drum setup. The front and rear brakes are both drum brakes. The brakes would have been much better if the front brake was a disc. But the brakes will perform adequately for a 113cc scooter.
The Yamaha Alpha has a basic telescopic suspension at the front. The rear suspension is a mono-shock absorbing swingarm unit suspension. This makes the suspension of the scooter quite premium. The scooter’s suspension is expected to perform adequately on the city roads.
The Yamaha Alpha comes with alloy wheels. The front and rear have 90/100 and 90/100 section tires respectively. The wheels are 10” at the front and rear respectively. The scooter is said to have great stability and good cornering skills. The scooter can also lean easily.
Target Audience:
The Yamaha Alpha was made for the scooter lover. It was made for the commuter who doesn’t want an aggressive, noise-making machine. The Yamaha Alpha is a forgiving machine that has a short learning curve. This beginner scooter is made for the people who are looking for a scooter that is easy and fashionable. This will appeal to the youngsters, mostly for its design.
Competitors:
The Yamaha Alpha has quite a few competitors in the 125cc segment. They are:
- Suzuki Lets.
- Hero Maestro Edge.
- TVS Wego.
- Honda Dio.
In conclusion, the Yamaha Alpha is a great commuting scooter with a lot of character. This scooter will not disappoint its owners. It is considered one of the best 110cc scooters in Bangladesh. The Yamaha Alpha can be your scooter if you think it suits your personality and requirements.
