VERDICT
Commuter bikes such as the Pegasus Victory 80 can easily be found on the busy streets of Bangladesh. The reason is simple: cost-effective. People go for such bikes, simply because they save people a lot of money. People who only see bikes as modes of transport find these bikes very attractive. These bikes cost less, are easy to maintain, and have low running costs.
Pegasus is a Bangladeshi motorcycle brand that brings its motorcycles from China and assembles in Bangladesh. This allows Pegasus bikes to be quite cost-friendly. Pegasus is a part of Jamuna Electronics and Automobile Limited (JEAL). The company was formed in 2013 under the concern of Jamuna Group. Jamuna Group’s slogan is “Committed to Prosperity”.
Key Features:
The Pegasus Victory 80 gets a very simple design. The design seems a lot like that of a neo-retro bike. The bike gets a square headlight with a halogen bulb. The taillight and indicators are also bulb types. The bike also comes with a long seat and a simple design. The rider and pillion sections are separated by a small bump which replicates split seat design.
The Pegasus Victory 80 also gets a very simple and minimalistic instrument cluster. The instrument cluster contains a speedometer, fuel gauge, and other necessary indicators. The bike also has a grabrail at the rear.
The Pegasus Victory 80 comes with a fairly sporty design. The tank has a few curves and edges which gives a good look. The Pegasus Victory 80 comes in one color only. They are:
Red.
The decals of the bike are very similar to its 100cc counterpart, known as the Pegasus Victory 100.
The Pegasus Victory 80 comes with a very fuel-efficient engine. The fuel economy of this bike is expected to be around 60kmpl. The engine is also quite powerful compared to the fuel efficiency.
Physical Attributes:
The Pegasus Victory 80 is a short bike with a short saddle height. The bike may seem tall, at 1205mm of height, due to the upright handlebars. The bike also has a large fuel tank of 10liters. The large fuel tank ensures that you don’t have to think of filling the bike up now and then.
The length, width, and weight of the Pegasus Victory 80 are 1985mm, 780mm, and 99kg respectively. The bike is fairly light compared to other 80cc motorcycles. The bike also has a very short wheelbase of 1240mm, which does bring the question of balance, but considering the power, the wheelbase will hold up well.
Engine and Transmission:
The Pegasus Victory 80 comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 80cc air-cooled engine. The engine pumps out 3.5kW of power at 5500rpm and 4.5Nm of torque at 5500rpm. The bike is expected to be quite fuel-efficient and is expected to have a mileage of around 60kmpl, which is quite a lot for the city commutes. However, the power and torque are quite low.
The Pegasus Victory 80 has a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. The bike comes with a 4-speed gearbox. Which means the gearing is quite tall, which does take away some top speed and some fuel efficiency as well.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Pegasus Victory 80 has a dual-drum brakes setup. The front wheel has a drum, which is expected for a bike of this Power figure. The rear brake is a basic drum system, which is expected from a bike of this range. However, bumping up the price slightly and including a disc at the front would have done much for this bike.
The Pegasus Victory 80 comes with telescopic forks at the front and spring-loaded adjustable suspensions at the back. The front suspension being telescopic is expected to be average and similar to other bikes of this range. The rear suspension, being adjustable allows the rider to comfortably adjust the suspensions according to the road conditions.
The Pegasus Victory 80 comes with alloy wheels. The front and the rear wheels have a 2.50-18 and 2.75-16 tire setup respectively. The front tire is alright for the bike, but the rear tire would have been able to give better performance and balance if it was 3/17.
Target Audience:
The Pegasus Victory 80 was made for the people who are concerned about the fuel efficiency of their bikes. This bike was made for the regular commuter who uses their bikes more than they use anything else. This is bike was also designed by keeping the middle-aged person, looking for a budget-friendly bike, in mind.
Competitors:
The Pegasus Victory 80 has a few competitors.
Dayun Sprout 80.
Runner Bullet 80 V2.
Zongshen ZS-80-4.
Roadmaster Delight.
