Certain companies revolutionize certain products or a certain group of products. Haojue and Lifan have revolutionized Chinese motorcycles in Bangladesh, where Haojue is a rather newer brand in the market. Bangladeshis took long enough to understand that Chinese motorcycles are, if not more, as capable as Japanese ones. It took them long enough to understand that bikes such as the Haojue Cool, Haojue DR160, Lifan KPR 150, and Lifan KPR 165 are good bikes.
Haojue is a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer. They are one of the top motorcycle manufacturers in China. Haojue is also a joint manufacturer of Suzuki bikes in China. The Haojue Cool is a 150cc commuter bike that was released targeting the commuting class of people of the country. The bike received very less recognition than it deserves.
Key Features:
The Haojue Cool comes with a mixed instrument cluster. The speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge are digital, while the RPM counter is analog. The bike also gets a gear position indicator. A new addition to the instrument cluster is the “Oil Change” indicator, which indicates the rider to change the engine oil of the bike at a suitable time.
The Haojue Cool comes in four different colors. They are:
Red,
Blue,
Black,
Orange.
All the above-mentioned colors have similar decals.
The Haojue Cool comes with a very basic light setup. The headlight, taillight, and indicators are halogen lights. The headlight is enough for city commute but will be risky to take it out of town, as the stock lights are not very bright. The taillight and the indicators will suffice. The headlight design is quite spread-out.
The Haojue Cool comes with a unique design. The bike has a grabrail that has been rounded and extended so that the pillion can grab tight. The bike also gets a single seat with the rear slightly elevated to give privacy to the pillion and the rider. The exhaust of the bike is also quite muscular and has a bass to it.
Physical Attributes:
The Haojue Cool is a short bike with a short saddle height of 770mm, however, the ground clearance of 178mm is quite suitable for a commuter bike. The bike is suitable for people who are shorter than 5’7”, as people taller than that would have a hard time adjusting to the bike. The bike also has a 13.3liter fuel capacity, which is quite large and is enough for long rides out of town now and then.
The length, width, height, and weight of the Haojue Cool are 1995mm, 760mm, 1095mm, and 136kg respectively. The bike is not the lightest, but it is on the lower end of the weight spectrum for 150cc bikes. The bike also has a wheelbase of 1280, which is not at all enough for a 150cc bike. Although the length will not be a problem when going around traffic. The bike is also thin and easy to grasp with two legs.
Engine and Transmission:
The Haojue Cool comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 150cc air-cooled engine. There are both self and kick-start of the bike. The engine pumps out a maximum of 11.4HP of power at 8000rpm and 11.3Nm of torque at 6000rpm. The maximum torque and power kick in at a rather suitable time, which also allows the bike to have a good fuel economy. Although it is a carburetor engine, it consumes 35-38kmpl of fuel in the city and around 40-42kmpl on the highway.
The Haojue Cool comes with a basic wet, multi-plate clutch. The bike also has a 5-speed gearbox, which has a linear power delivery to the engine. The gear shifter has both front and rear pedal to help with shifting and to avoid damage to shoes.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Haojue Cool comes with a disc-drum setup. The front gets a disc, and the rear gets a drum brake. The front brakes work well. The rear brake is expected to perform as a standard drum brake performs. The brakes would have been much more exciting if it was given dual discs or CBS as stock.
The Haojue Cool comes with telescopic forks at the front as suspension. The front suspension works well on bumpy roads. The rear suspension is an adjustable mono-shock suspension. The rear suspension will be good for a pillion, but will not be great during cornering.
The Haojue Cool comes with alloy wheels. The front and rear wheels have 2.75/18 and 90/90 section tires. The rear tire being a bit thin, the bike may skid during emergency braking situations. The tire would have been better if they were 120/80.
Target Audience:
The Haojue Cool was made for the young new riders in the block. The bike may not be the best for highway rides but is good for regular commutes and rides around the city. For new riders, this bike is forgiving. With basic rear suspension and low saddle height, this bike is perfect for new riders who are still learning. They will also not get overwhelmed when riding this bike, as the power of the bike is low.
Competitors:
The Haojue Cool has a few competitors and they are capable of giving this bike a run for its money.
Keeway RKS 150.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 series.
Benelli TNT 150.
Hero Hunk series.
The Haojue Cool is a good sporty beginner commuter bike. It was well crafted and well-executed. The bike may not be the best but puts most Japanese bikes to shame by giving maximum effort. All in all, the Haojue Cool is a commendable bike.
