VERDICT
Sport commuters are the perfect mix of sportbikes and commuter bikes. However, the sports commuter segment over the years has been ruled by Japanese and Indian motorcycles. However, every once in a while, there is one bike that defies the rules and turns the tables on the Japanese and Indian bikes. In recent years, these defiant bikes have been Chinese. One of the most trustworthy names of Chinese motorcycle brands has been Dayun. Dayun Panzer is a sports commuter by Dayun.
Dayun is a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer that is brought to the public by Roadmaster. Dayun has been operating in Bangladesh for a long time. This has allowed Dayun to create a loyal customer circle. One bike by the Chinese giant Dayun is the Dayun Panzer. Dayun Panzer has had a polarizing effect on Bangladeshi consumers, mainly due to its looks.
Key Features:
The Dayun Panzer has a minimalistic instrument cluster. The instrument cluster has a speedometer, odometer, RPM counter, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, and other necessary indicators. The indicator has been kept as minimalistic as possible, as for a commuter a lot of information can be overwhelming.
The Dayun Panzer has a halogen-LED light setup. The headlight is a halogen light with a wide reflector. The headlight is enough for the city commute, but for the highway, this light might not be sufficient. The LED taillight is quite large that can easily be noticed from a distance. The indicators are bulky and ugly, but they can be noticed as well.
The Dayun Panzer bike comes in three different colors. They are:
- Red.
- Black.
- Black and green.
The decals of all the bikes come in similar designs. The black and green version of the bike has a unique color scheme.
The Panzer has a bulky look with sporty features. The seat of the bike is split to suit the category of the bike. The bike also has engine cowls, which is important to secure the engine. The tank of the bike has two air scoops as well.
Physical Attributes:
The Dayun Panzer comes with a split seat and a 3-part tall handlebar. The bike has an averagely heightened seat. The ground clearance of the bike is expected to be above 160mm, which will be enough to be safe from most of the speedbumps of Bangladesh. The bike also has a 14liters fuel tank, which is big enough for long rides out of town.
The length, weight, height, and weight of the Dayun Panzer are 2070mm, 780mm, 1280mm, and 140kg respectively. The bike is a tad bit on the heavier side, which makes it quite stable at high-speed maneuvers. The wheelbase of the bike is 1355, which is quite long, and makes it quite stable at corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The Dayun Panzer comes with a carbureted engine. The bike has a 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine, and a 147.4cc engine. It is air-cooled. The engine pumps out 14BHP of power at 7500rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 5000rpm. The power of the bike is on par with other bikes of the 150cc segment, while the torque is quite low. The mileage of this bike is expected to be around 45kmpl.
The Dayun Panzer comes with a regular wet multi-plate clutch. The bike also comes with a 5-speed gearbox. The top speed of this bike is expected to be around 120kmph (not suggested to test on open roads).
Brakes, Suspension, and Wheels:
The Dayun Panzer comes with a dual-disc setup. The front wheel has a disc brake, which is of utmost importance. The rear wheel also comes equipped with a disc brake, which is quite impressive. The braking of the bike is quite good considering the price. Although, a CBS would have done wonders to the bike.
The Dayun Panzer has telescopic forks as the front suspension. The forks are quite helpful during cornering and also fairly responsive on bumpy roads. The bike also has a mono-shock at the rear, which makes the bike even better at the corners.
The Dayun Panzer comes with alloy wheels. The front tire is 100/80 and the rear tire is 130/70. The rear tire would have been better if it was 140, considering the power figure of the bike. The riders will not feel very comfortable during high-speed cornering.
Pros and Cons:
The Dayun Panzer has quite a few pros and cons which are mentioned below.
Pros
- Powerful engine.
- Unique design.
- Good braking.
- LED lights.
Cons
- No ABS or CBS.
- Bulky look.
Target Audience:
The Dayun Panzer comes with a design that looks like the ugly smart kid in class. The bike has quite good power compared to other bikes of the 150cc naked segment. The bike will be great for the commuter, as it has good brakes and power with a reasonable price tag. The bike will also be good for touring.
Availability: Available at all Dayun Dealerships around Bangladesh.
Competitors:
The Dayun Panzer may be a great bike, but some bikes can give it a run for its money.
- Runner Knight Rider V2.
- Lifan KPS 150.
- Keeway RKS 150.
- Atlas Zongshen Z One.
The Dayun Panzer may not be the best-looking bike, but it is a good bike. The Panzer has good specifications and a good fuel economy which is quite important for a commuter. It is also powerful which is also important for the Street Rossis. All in all, the Dayun Panzer is a great bike with good specifications for its price.
