Dayun Defender 150 Review
PROS
CONS
VERDICT
The motorcycle market in Bangladesh is quite polarizing. Three categories have the highest-selling numbers; they are commuter, naked sport, and sportbikes. However, among these three, the commuter segment is the largest. The commuter segment has a wide variety of motorcycles available from all regions of the world. Many Chinese brands in Bangladesh produce commuter bikes, but one of the most trustworthy names is Dayun. One of Dayun’s well-known commuter bikes is the Dayun Defender 150.
Dayun is a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer. Dayun motorcycles are imported by Roadmaster Bangladesh. Dayun has numerous commuters that have tasted the Bangladeshi roads. Dayun brought their 150cc commuter, the Dayun Defender 150 in recent years. The Defender was taken with open arms by the consumers due to its sporty design and bulky yet sleek physique.
Key Features:
The Dayun Defender 150 is a commuter that is designed in a sporty manner. The bike looks nothing like a commuter, and rather looks like a naked sportbike. The look of the bike is enhanced by the curves and edges of the bike. The extended tank which looks like air scoops, and the split seat setup adds to the look of the bike.
The Dayun Defender 150 has a halogen-LED light setup. The headlight is a halogen light with reflectors. The headlight is enough for the city commute, but may not be enough for long rides out of town. The LED taillight is wide and big, which makes it noticeable from a distance. The LED indicators are bulky which is important for commuting through the city.
The Dayun Defender 150 is available in four colors. They are:
- Black Blue.
- Yellow.
- Red.
- White.
All the bikes are with similar decals. The decals are quite sporty.
The Dayun Defender 150 comes with a very average instrument cluster. The instrument cluster has a speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, RPM counter, and other necessary indicators.
Physical Attributes:
The Dayun Defender 150 comes with a split seat setup. The bike has a low saddle height that is suitable for riders under the height of 5’11”. Regardless of the low saddle height, the bike has a sufficient amount of ground clearance of 175mm, which makes it immune from most speedbumps. The fuel capacity of the bike is 13liters, which is more than enough for long rides out of town.
The length, width, height, and weight of the Dayun Defender 150 are 2070mm, 810mm, 1185mm, and 143kg. The Dayun Defender 150 is a bit on the heavier side, which is good for high-speed maneuvers. The bike has a wheelbase of 1330mm, which will keep the bike stable while leaning at corners. The upright 3-part handlebars will keep the rider comfortable and will avoid the riders from becoming tired.
Engine and Transmission:
The Dayun Defender 150 comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 150cc air-cooled engine. There are both self and kick-start of the bike. The engine pumps out around 11.4BHP of power at 7500rpm and 11.5Nm of torque at 5000rpm. The power and torque kicking in early will help the bike overtake easily. The air-cooled, and carbureted engine consumes a liter of fuel every 40km.
The Dayun Defender 150 comes with a basic wet, multi-plate clutch. The bike has a 5-speed gearbox, which is expected to deliver power to the wheels linearly. The bike is expected to have a top speed of around 110kmph.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Dayun Defender 150 comes with a disc-drum setup. The front has a disc brake. The disc at the front is expected to perform adequately. The rear brake is a drum, which is a bit disappointing for a 150cc bike, but considering the power and torque of the bike, it is a decent brake setup.
The Dayun Defender 150 comes with telescopic forks at the front as suspension. The front suspension works well on bumpy roads. The rear suspension is a dual spring-loaded setup. The rear suspension will be comfortable for pillions; however, the bike will not be very strong at corners.
The Dayun Defender 150 comes with alloy wheels. The front and rear wheels have 100/80 and 130/70 section tires. It is surprising for this bike to have 130/70 section tires. The tires of the bike are perfect for both riding confidently and braking safely.
