Bajaj V15 Video
Overview: In March 2016, one of the most famous motorbike manufacturers of the Indian subcontinent Bajaj Auto launched the most anticipated commuter motorcycle Bajaj V15 otherwise known as Bajaj V in India (Source). In December 2016, Bajaj Auto Launched the V15 in Bangladesh via its partner Uttara Motors. Bajaj V, a very powerful 150cc commuter motorcycle with a very unique look and design.

Most of its parts are made from the scrap steel of the INS (Indian Naval Ship) Vikrant, the first Aircraft carrier of India which was decommissioned in 1997.
This aircraft carrier also took part in the Liberation war in 1971 in favor of Bangladesh against West Pakistan. The “V” of the Bike stands for the “Vikrant”. Using the scrap steel of INS Vikrant in the bike is the unique selling proposition of the bike.
Bajaj V is a powerful commuter motorcycle in the 150cc segment. Its motor can produce 11.83 BHP peak power @7500 RPM and 13NM of torque @5500 RPM. We say it is powerful because of the way it delivers its power. The details are discussed below.

Design: The design of Bajaj V is not anything we ever have seen before in a 150cc commuter bike. The bike seems to be a fusion of classic and modern bikes. Bajaj calls it a neo-classic design concept.
The rear section has a cruiser-style design with a very eye catchy LED tail lamp and the fuel tank of the bike is somehow seemed to be given a classic café racer look while everything else seems to be modern. The wheels are equipped with all-new 10 spoke alloy rims and tubeless tires. The front-wheel gets a 90/90 tire and 18-inch rim while the rear section gets a 120/80 and 16-inch rim which looks very eye-catchy.
Moreover, this 16-inch rim also helps in terms of delivering maximum power to the ground. The headlamp looks modern and has the most powerful halogen bulb in its segment. It delivers 55W in low-beam and 60W in high-beam.

The front section of the bike is equipped with a powerful halogen headlamp with a premium chrome finishing around it, bulb fitted clear lens turn signal indicator, the retro-styled fuel tank with metal V logo, the side panels blend perfectly with a design that the bike carries.

There is logo branding 'Made with the invincible metal of INS Vikrant' in the fuel cap. The exhaust of the bike fits between the modern and classic look with a chrome finished heat shield. This bike has a very unique exhaust node. The engine of the bike has a very well-finished metallic silver coating which also helps giving it the retro design.
The instrument cluster is all analog which also blends perfectly with the theme of the bike. We get a speedometer, odometer &a LED fuel gauge (color-changing LED indications). There is no engine kill switch in the switchgear while everything else is standard. The V15 offers three color choices i.e. Pearl White, Ebony Black, Heroic Red, Ocean Blue.

Engine and Performance: The engine of the V is built from the ground up for the V. The V15 has a 149.5ccSingle cylinder, 4 strokes, SOHC 2 valve, Air-cooled, DTS-i engine which is coupled with a smooth 5-speed all up the gearbox.
The engine can produce 11.83 bhp of peak power @7500 RPM and 13NM of torque at 5500 RPM. Now the power seems to be not low considering Bajaj Pulsar 150’s engine. The twist of this engine is that it can produce most of its power from very low RPM.
That means, from the beginning of twisting of the throttle you will get most of its power ready for you. But the bike is not Rev happy as it was not meant to be rev much high. This bike was made to last, commute around city traffic which it does very well. This engine can pull in any gear in the city without even knocking.
Vibration is completely absent in lower speed but over 80Kmph vibration can be felt and increases as it speeds up. The top speed claimed 109 Kmph. The mileage claimed 45 Kmpl (city), 55 Kmpl (Highway) and 50 Kmpl (combined).
Tires, Breaking & Ride Comfort: The Bajaj V15 comes with 90/90-18 51P tire in front and 120/80-16 60P in the rear which are fitted in 18-inch and 16-inch alloy rims respectively. The front wheel gets 33mm Telescopic Forks while the rear wheel gets Twin-Spring loaded gas-filled hydraulic-type shocks. The front wheel is coupled with a 240mm Disc brake while the rear wheel gets a 130mm Drum break which should be adequate considering weight 135.5 KG(Dry) and power.

The wheelbase is 1315mm, the lowest in this segment, which will make the bike more agile and nimble to ride in traffic. the upright handlebar and premium textured cushioned unibody seat along with the placement of the rider footpegs make the bike most comfortable in its segment both for rider and passenger.
Conclusion: The Bajaj V15 is a bike build for day-to-day executive style commuting rather than speeding on the edge. This is a bike for those who love cruising around the city with the best comfort possible at a decent speed. If speed is your forte, then I would suggest you look for another bike. But if you are looking for something classy and comfortable which will revile your test for things then you must consider the Bajaj V15 as your daily driver.
