VERDICT
Sportbikes such as the Aprilia RS4 125 are gems. These bikes come with low capacity but high power and features. The sportbike community in Bangladesh is bigger than people can even imagine.
People want good-looking entry-level sportbikes that come with a lot of features, but the options are quite limited. And there are fewer options for the 125cc segment. This small number of entry-level sportbikes has created a pedestal for bikes of 125cc.
Aprilia is an Italian brand. Aprilia was situated after the second world war. Initially, Aprilia made bicycles and later went on to make scooters and low-capacity motorcycles. Finally, they went on to make high-capacity sportbikes such as the Aprilia RSV Mille, and the Aprilia RSV4.
Due to the cubic capacity limitations (cc limit), we only receive bikes of 165cc or less. Hence, we receive entry-level sportbikes such as the Aprilia RS4 125. However, for an entry-level sportbike, the RS4 125 is a great bike.
Key Features:
The Aprilia RS4 125 is a sportbike with fully dedicated sporty features. This bike has a very special light setup. The headlight has 3 separate sections with two corner DRLs. The headlight is halogen, which is a bit disappointing considering the price of the bike. The taillight is a very uniquely shaped light as well, which makes it noticeable from a distance. The indicators of the bike are also very minimalistic, and attractive.
The Aprilia RS4 125 comes with an underbelly exhaust and slipper clutch. The underbelly exhaust might be a bit problematic for the bike when it is in a flooded situation. In retrospect, the slipper clutch makes the bike very premium, as it allows the riders to easily engine brake in Dhaka city. The overall features of this bike are quite enough for it to be one of the best sports bikes in Bangladesh.
The Aprilia RS4 125 comes only in Matte Black. It can be understood that Aprilia took quite care while designing this bike, as the bike looks very clean look. The bike has almost no decals except for the branding of bike.
The bike also has rear-view mirrors that look very interesting and good-looking, which match the bike quite well. The overall design of the bike is nothing less than a 1000cc sport bike.
The Aprilia RS4 125 comes with a very informative instrument cluster. The instrument cluster has a speedometer, odometer, trip meter, RPM counter (analog), gear position indicator, gear shift indicator, fuel gauge, and other necessary indicators. The instrument cluster is anything and everything any rider needs.
Physical Attributes:
The Aprilia RS4 125 is a fairly tall bike, with a seat height of 820mm. The bike is mostly suited for riders more than 5’6”. The rear section of the bike is very minimalistic with a nonexistent rear pillion seat. The bike has a tank capacity of 14.5liters, which is more than enough for long rides. If you have a full tank in town, you can almost forget about refilling the tank.
The length, width, height, and weight of the Aprilia RS4 125 are 1968mm, 760mm, 1135mm, and 135kg respectively. The bike looks very big but weighs quite less, which gives this bike a very aerodynamic shape with a weight that will allow the bike to flick from one side to another easily.
The bike has a ground clearance of 135mm, which makes the bike quite prone to kissing some of the speedbumps of Bangladesh. The seat height of 820mm makes it more suitable for riders of or above 5’5”. The bike also has a wheelbase of 1353mm, which is quite suitable for the stability of leaning while cornering.
Engine and Transmission:
The Aprilia RS4 125 is quite a powerful bike considering its capacity. It comes with a 4-stroke, 4 valves, single-cylinder, and 125cc engine. The engine is liquid-cooled and fuel-injected, which are huge plus points for the bike. The engine pumps out a staggering 14.8BHP of power at 10500rpm and 10.9Nm torque at 8250rpm. While the power is extremely high, the torque figure does get a blow due to the engine size. The bike is expected to have a mileage of around 38kmpl.
The Aprilia RS4 125 has a basic wet multi-plate clutch system. The bike also gets a slipper clutch which helps the bike to engine brake easily. The Aprilia RS4 125 has a 6-speed gearbox, and the bike has an approximate top speed of about 120kmph.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheel:
The Aprilia RS4 125 has a dual disc brake setup. The front brake is a 300mm disc, which allows the brake to smoothly slow down the bike. The rear brake is a 218mm disc, which is also expected to perform well. However, the bike not getting any ABS or CBS is a bit disappointing. For this price range, not adding ABS is quite saddening.
The Aprilia RS4 125 has 41mm upside-down forks as the front suspension. The rear has a mono-shock suspension. This means that the bike will be highly stable during rides, cornering, and you can also. The front 41mm allows the bike to absorb quite some shocks. The overall suspension will not be very suitable for the rider to ride with a pillion.
The Aprilia RS4 125 gets alloy wheels. The front and rear wheels have 110/80 and 130/70 tires respectively. The bike has good tires for cornering, and stability. The rear tire allows the bike to lean smoothly the whole cornering and keeps the bike stable.
Target Audience:
The Aprilia RS4 125 was made for youngsters who want a low-capacity sportbike to understand the world of sportbikes. Since this is a beginner sportbike and not a beginner bike, it will not be suitable for beginner bikers. This bike will be a good bike for intermediate riders who know the ways around a bike.
Competitors:
Weirdly, the Aprilia RS4 125 has only three competitors, but the competitors are strong enough to question the buyer’s decisions.
- KTM RC 125 (Indian).
- Kawasaki Ninja 125.
- KTM RC 125 (European).
Aprilia is a reliable motorcycle manufacturer. This is why it can be said that the Aprilia RS4 125 is a reliable motorcycle. Aprilia RS4 125 is a great beginner sportbike, with great features for its price.
