Yamaha WR 155R is an entry-level dual-sport motorcycle manufactured by the Japanese motorcycle and scooter manufacturer Yamaha. The motorcycle belongs to the Yamaha WR motorcycle series which is a dedicated off-road-biased dual-sport motorcycle series. The Yamaha WR 155R is the latest edition in the WR motorcycle series that is positioned in between the WR 125R and 250R models.

However, the motorcycle comes with an all-new body profile and WR-DNA-inspired features. It also has been designed extensively to serve the beginner class trail bike riders who are fascinated by dirt biking or trail riding. Moreover, being a dirt-oriented dual-sport machine Yamaha WR 155R comes with a comprehensive range of street-legal features. Yamaha WR 155R – Design Overview:

Yamaha WR 155R an entry-level dual-sport motorcycle in the Yamaha WR dual-sport motorcycle series has been released by Yamaha Motor Co, Indonesia. It’s the latest addition to the Yamaha WR family that comes with a 150cc liquid-cooled and EFI engine. It’s a solid street-legal dual-sport motorcycle that carries Yamaha's WR DNA. Hence the motorcycle is designed with trail riding features and dirt bike like ergonomics. 

In the overall exterior design, the motorcycle design copies the solid dirt bike profile and is enhanced with all the necessary street-legal features to ensure its dual-sport identity. The motorcycle comes with a very tiny body profile backed with a lightweight and compact steel frame and from a distance it looks like a solid dirt bike. However, the motorcycle copies the dirt-profiled higher saddle, higher ground clearance, longer travel suspension, and 21”/18” larger wheel setup.

Coming to the street-legal features the motorcycle comes with a regular street-bike-like headlamp, tail lamp, rear-view mirrors, turn indicators, a fully-featured digital ODO, and registration plate hanger at the tail. Meanwhile, in the body design, the motorcycle is much narrower, and compact, and omits unnecessary body panels. Hence the higher wheel fender nicely reminds its trail riding capability and attractively its raised exhaust mounted on its lefthand side.

In the other design features, like other dirt bikes, the motorcycle comes with a very narrow one-piece seat and a narrower fuel tank level after the seat. Thus, with its solid dirt-oriented body profile and other exterior elements, the Yamaha RW 155R is exclusively designed as a modern-day dual-sport commuter which is of course adorable for riding on almost any type of terrain.

Yamaha WR 155R – Frame, Wheel, Brake & Suspension System:

Yamaha WR 155R is a small-capacity trail-oriented dual-sport motorcycle that was designed inspired by Yamaha’s quarter-liter WR model WR250R. But the motorcycle extensively copies the frame, wheel, and suspension setup from its younger sibling WR125R model. However, the motorcycle is designed on a semi-double cradle-type steel frame which is lighter but ensures enough strength to deal with most of the trail riding situations and common street riding scenarios.

Being a full-size trail-oriented dual-sport motorcycle WR 155R is featured with full-size spoke wheels. It is fitted with a 21-inch wheel setup in front and 18-inch at the rear. Here, both the wheels are fitted with lightweight aluminum rims and tube-type knobby tires to ensure better trail riding experience. In the braking setup both the wheels feature hydraulic disk braking systems

In the suspension setup, the Yamaha WR 155R comes with a very responsive type of longer-travel suspension system. Here the front suspension is an upright hydraulic telescopic fork suspension that has nice plastic guards in front of the inner barrels. At the rear, the setup is adjustable mono suspension that is link-type. Meanwhile, both suspensions are tweaked to give better feedback on varied terrains.

The Yamaha WR 155R is the latest entry in the Yamaha WR dual-sport motorcycle family that comes with a refined 155cc engine. The engine is a 155cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine that features SOHC 4-valve and VVA system. Along with a bore & stroke of 58.0mmX58.7mm this square engine comes with a higher compression ratio of 11.6:1 where fuel feeding is featured with an electronic fuel-injection system.

Being EFI equipped and fully transistorized ignition system the engine is capable to deal with any weather and altitude condition more smartly. Hence, according to Yamaha, it’s a perfect beginner-class trail bike that ensures a linear performance in the low-mid RPM bands. Hence this 6-geared engine squeezes the maximum power of 12.3kW at 10,000RPM and the torque of 14.3Nm at 6,500RPM. Consequently, the motorcycle can ensure a decent range of fuel economy under standard riding conditions.
