ভূমিকা
Naked Sports such as the Pegasus Evo 150R are becoming more and more popular in Bangladesh. This is due a growing number of youngsters opting for motorcycles. Naked Sports give youngsters a feel of speed and control at the same time. Due to Japanese bikes being a bit expensive, underdogs such as Pegasus, Lifan, GPX are also being able to compete in the market. Here we will be talking about the Pegasus Evo 150R.
Pegasus is a Bangladeshi motorcycle brand that brings their motorcycles from China and assembles in Bangladesh. This allows Pegasus bikes to be quite cost friendly. Pegasus is a part of Jamuna Electronics and Automobile Limited (JEAL). The company formed in 2013 under the concern of Jamuna Group. Jamuna Group’s slogan is “Committed to Prosperity”.
Key Features:
The Pegasus Evo 150R comes with a modern and sporty design. The bike comes with split seat, which gives the necessary privacy to the rider and the pillion. The bike also has a very attractive exhaust design, which adds to the sporty profile. There are also air scoops at the front which makes the bike look fiercer.
The Pegasus Evo 150R comes in three attractive colors. They are:
Black.
Green.
Orange
Both colors have similar decals and design.
The Pegasus Evo 150R comes with a full halogen light setup. The front comes with a halogen headlight, which is not much, but the large reflector might help. The taillight is also bulb, as well as the indicators. The bike is fairly visible, but if the lights were LED, that would have helped make the bike more attractive and visible.
It also comes with a very informative instrument cluster. The instrument cluster includes a speedometer, an RPM counter, an odometer, and other necessary indicators. The bike also has a gear position indicator, which is great for beginners.
Physical Attributes:
The Pegasus Evo 150R is a short bike with a short saddle height. The bike is suitable for people who are shorter than 5’9”, as people taller than that would have a hard time adjusting to the bike. The bike also has a 15liter fuel capacity, which is quite large considering the segment.
The length, width, height, and weight of the Evo 150R are 2040mm, 810mm, 1250mm, and 135kg respectively. The bike is one of the lightest, if not the lightest, bikes in the 150cc segment, which makes it easy to flick and swerve. The bike also has a wheelbase of 1320, which is quite suitable for the bike to be stable at corners.
Engine and Transmission:
The Pegasus Evo 150R comes with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, and 150cc air-cooled engine. There is only self-start mechanism of the bike. The engine pumps out a maximum of 8.9kW of power at 7500rpm and 12.2Nm of torque at 5500rpm. Although it is a carburetor engine, it is expected to have a fuel consumption of about 40kmpl.
It comes with a basic wet, multi-plate clutch. The bike also has a 5-speed gearbox, which has a linear power delivery to the engine. The bike is expected to have a top speed of about 110kmph.
Brakes, Suspensions, and Wheels:
The Pegasus Evo 150R comes with a dual-disc setup. The disc on the front and back allows the bike to have quite good braking performance. The only problem is that the bike does not come with ABS or CBS. ABS at this price range is close to impossible, but CBS is not. Which is why at least CBS would have done wonders for the bike.
It comes with telescopic forks at the front as suspension. The front suspension works well on bumpy roads. The rear has a mono-shock absorber. The rear suspension allows the bike to comfortably corner and stays stable.
The Pegasus Evo 150R comes with alloy wheels. The front and rear wheels have 80/100-17 and 110/80-17 section tires. The rear tire could have been a bit thicker. A 120/80 section tire would have done wonders for the bike. However, the present tire setup is enough for the bike.
Target Audience:
It was made for the young new riders in the block. This bike is great for the new rider who is looking to upgrade to a slightly powerful bike from a 125cc. The features of this bike allow it to have a short learning curve. This bike is great for the student who needs a stylish bike to ride to university. This bike is also great for the regular job holder to enter the office with swag.
Competitors:
The Pegasus Evo 150R has a few competitors and they are capable of giving this bike a run for its money.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 series.
Apache RTR 150 series.
