Kawasaki W175 Overview

Introduction

The Kawasaki W175 is an affordable classic commuter motorcycle from the renowned Japanese motorcycle brand, Kawasaki. The motorcycle is exclusively designed following old-school scrambler-like design and ergonomics. The motorcycle was first introduced in November 2017 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and has been exported to Thailand, Philippines, and Latin American markets side-by-side selling in the Indonesian domestic market. Now the motorcycle also has been produced in India by Kawasaki to market in this regional markets.

However, the Kawasaki W175 comes with a bulletproof 175cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that was swapped from the predecessor Kawasaki EL175 and refined to match present emission compliance. In the design, the motorcycle solely copies the 1970s motorcycle design and features comfortable commuting features and riding ergonomics. Thus, along with an old-school body profile and classic spoke wheel setup, this motorcycle nicely showcases very simple, sleek, and attractive attire. Moreover, W175’s peashooter-style retro muffler provides a clear and crisp exhaust note that can give the rider an enjoyable riding experience.

The Kawasaki W175 is an absolute classic motorcycle that somewhat copies 1970s motorcycle design. It can be called a dual-terrain commuter that is designed very straight, and solid, and adopts very comfortable upright riding ergonomics.  Thus, with adorable retro styling, Kawasaki W175 holds Kawasaki’s "W" series dedicated features beholding all the street-legal elements. In the design, the Kawasaki W175 nicely features modern craftsmanship on old-school-styled body parts. Along with a naked body profile, beefy and comfortably cushioned seat, bold and back-dented oval fuel tank, compact side panels, and up-mounted wider upright handlebar, the motorcycle truly translates to a classic commuter profile. Accordingly, the riding and handling features are also characterized to give the rider a relaxed and comfortable riding experience.

In the other features, the motorcycle features a round-shaped bigger size headlamp beholding a retro round-pit ODO console on the top. The front end remained open and there is no windshield mounted in the front. Rear-view mirrors are mounted on the wider pipe handlebar. After the puffed and glossy pinstriped fuel tank, the seat is the single-piece unit where the tail-end is supported with a metal grabrail. However, with a peashooter-styled exhaust muffler and classic spoke wheels, the motorcycle gets a gorgeous look that undoubtedly can turn the heads in the crowd.


Kawasaki W175 – Frame, Wheel, Brake, & Suspension System:

The Kawasaki W175 is a classic scrambler-like commuter motorcycle produced by Kawasaki Motorcycles. It comes with a steel tube semi-double cradle frame. On the wheels, the motorcycle is fitted with an old-school wheel setup featuring 17-inch wired spoke-rims and dual-terrain commuting tires in measure of 80/100-17 in the front and 100/90-17 at the rear. 

In the braking system the motorcycle is equipped with a hydraulic disc brake system in the front wheel and the rear wheel features a conventional drum-type brake. Meanwhile, the front brake is enhanced with a single-channel ABS feature. In the suspension system, the Kawasaki W175 features upright telescopic fork suspension in the front. At the rear, it holds spring-loaded adjustable type hydraulic dual shock absorbers fitted with the swingarm from both sides.


Kawasaki W175 – Engine Performance & Features:

The Kawasaki W175 is a solid retro commuter motorcycle. It comes equipped with a robust 177cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled, SOHC 2-valve engine. The engine comes with a bore and stroke of 65.5mm X 52.4mm and features an electronic fuel injection system. The engine is paired with a wet multi-plate clutch system and a 5-speed gear transmission in the pattern of 1-N-2-3-4-5. The engine starting is facilitated by an electric start system only.

In terms of power and performance, the Kawasaki W175's low-emission engine is tuned for smoother power delivery, sharp acceleration, and efficient fuel economy. However, this engine is tuned to produce a maximum power output of 9.6kW (13PS) at 7,500RM and a torque of 13.2Nm at 6,000RPM. Thus, with 135kg of curb weight, this motorcycle can clock around 100km of top speed and can ensure around 40kmpl of fuel economy under standard riding conditions.
