Which Type Of Bike Is Right For You?
Last updated on 22-Jun-2025 , By Badhon Roy
We often receive messages in our Facebook group and page inbox asking which bike would be suitable for me at this price point? Our usual advice is simple- before buying a bike, you need to understand what you expect from it and how you are planning to use it.
This article may help you choose the right bike category according to your needs.

Which Type Of Bike Is Right For You?
Commuter Bike

If your requirement is a low-maintenance, fuel-efficient bike within a limited budget to cover short to medium distances regularly and possibly with family, then a commuter bike is ideal for you. In Bangladesh, commuter bikes range from 80cc to 165cc. Although power and features vary by engine size but their core purpose remains the same. There’s a misconception that 80-125cc bikes are only for older people. In reality modern commuter bikes are quite stylish and come with up-to-date features suitable for all age groups.
Moped

Mopeds are currently very popular in Bangladesh especially for delivery services. The bikes are lightweight, capable of carrying more load, highly fuel-efficient, and easy to ride since they don’t require gear shifting. Apart from deliveries, mopeds are also good for short-distance, low-speed city commuting.
Cruiser
Cruiser bikes are specially designed for long rides and highway touring. They offer a very relaxed riding position like legs extended forward, hands on wide handlebars, and a straight or slightly reclined back. If you enjoy long, comfortable rides and want to express a unique personality through your ride, cruisers are a great option. However, they are best suited for experienced and patient riders. Inexperienced riders or those who often ride in traffic-heavy areas may find cruisers difficult or frustrating to handle.
Sports Bike
Sports bikes are most favored by young riders who want speed, style, performance, and adrenaline. These bikes are expensive and have higher maintenance costs. However, many Bangladeshi riders don’t consider whether the bike matches their needs or physical capability. The aggressive seating often leads to back pain, wrist pain, and other discomforts if used for long periods on all kinds of roads. If you’re an experienced rider looking for high-performance road experience, a sports bike is suitable. For better comfort, consider naked sports bikes with a more relaxed riding posture.
ADV (Adventure) Bike
If you want long tours, off-road adventures, and a versatile riding experience an ADV bike could be the best choice. Ideal for riders who enjoy both on-road and off-road challenges, need to carry more load, and prioritize comfort and power. But one thing is necessary to mention that ADV bikes usually have higher ground clearance and seat height, and they are heavier so the rider must have adequate height, strength, skill, and experience to handle them safely.
Dirt Bike
If off-roading is your only goal, and you see trails and rough terrain as a challenge, dirt bikes are your best option. Whether mud, sand, hills, or broken roads dirt bikes are designed for such conditions. However, they are not suitable for on-road or city riding, and riding them well requires significant skill.
Scooter
For riders who value practicality and city commuting, scooters are the best choice. They are easy to control, often come with under-seat storage space, and are convenient for everyday use. Most female riders feel more comfortable with scooters compared to motorcycles.
No matter what brand or price range you’re considering we recommend not choosing a bike based only on looks or performance. Decide based on category and purpose which bike suits your daily needs.
