Last updated on 15-Aug-2024 , By imran

The Yamaha R15 V3 and the Yamaha MT15 are two of the flagship bikes of the Yamaha brand in the South Asian region. These two bikes have created a monopoly of sorts in the sports bike section. Over the years Yamaha R15 V3 has become the benchmark for the sports bike category. The Yamaha MT15 came to Bangladesh with the same DNA as the Yamaha MT series. The predecessor of the Yamaha MT15 is the Yamaha M Slaz, which was released with the engine of the Yamaha R15 V2; on the other hand the Yamaha MT15 is built using the engine of the Yamaha R15 V3.

Which one shall I buy in between Yamaha R15 V3 and Yamaha MT15?

Yamaha R15 V3 Vs Yamaha MT 15

Yamaha R15 V3:

The Yamaha R15 V3 has a 155cc engine. On its best day the Yamaha R15 V3’s engine spits out about 19BHP at 10000RPM and about 14.7NM at 8500RPM. The power and torque combination of this bike is unparalleled. The engine is also fuel injected and liquid cooled. It has the right side up forks at the front unlike the Indonesian version of the bike. The other bikes of this segment may opt for better torque but have difficulty comparing to the power of this bike. You can see Latest Price of r15 v3 price in bd.

The Yamaha R15 V3 has a sporty posture, which means it has three part handlebars. The three part handlebars allow for a very aggressive feel. When the bike is hitting past 90KMPH, the acceleration is still quite fresh, as the posture allows for the air to pass better through the rider.

Yamaha MT15:

The Yamaha MT15 is a street sports bike. This bike has the same engine specs as the Yamaha R15 V3. The Yamaha MT15 comes with the same 155cc engine which spits out about 19BHP of power at 10000RPM and 14.7NM of torque at 8500RPM. This engine is also fuel injected and liquid cooled. The forks at the front are also right side up.

However, unlike the Yamaha R15 V3, the Yamaha MT15 has a more street friendly handlebar. This allows for the bike to be more comfortable on daily commutes. Hence bikers tend to prefer the Yamaha MT15 more than the Yamaha R15 V3 on day to day commutes. But due to the upright posture of the bike, the acceleration at high speeds is a bit low due to the drag on the rider.

Decision Making:

When making the decision of which to buy, the Yamaha R15 V3 or the Yamaha MT15, you should keep three things in mind:

  • Convenience.
  • Budget.
  • Aggression.
  • Convenience:

The convenience of the bike is one of the most important factors, because the biker is buying the bike for a certain use. If the use of the bike is not fulfilled, then buying the bike becomes futile. If a person is looking for a sports bike with which they can do rides with the boys but have small commutes every now and then, the Yamaha R15 V3 is the perfect choice for them. But if the person is looking for a bike with which they can commute alone regularly for long periods and have long rides as well, then the Yamaha MT15 would be a better choice due to the posture of the bike.

On the contrary, if the person is looking for a bike that they can use for long tours, they can easily opt for the Yamaha MT15, as it is a much easier bike to use for long tours. This is because the Yamaha MT15 has a better posture than the R15 V3. During long rides, you require a bike with which you are comfortable and won’t hurt your wrists when you ride it for long hours.

In both cases, you should consider the pillion seat, as both the Yamaha R15 V3 and the Yamaha MT15 don’t have enough pillion seat space for comfortable rides.

Budget:

When buying a bike, you need to look at your pockets as well. For sure, both the Yamaha R15 V3 and the Yamaha MT15 are expensive bikes. If you have a budget below 4,50,000 BDT, then the Yamaha MT15 is the one for you. However, if you have a budget below 5,00,000 BDT, in that case the Yamaha R15 V3 will be great for you.

Aggression:

The Yamaha R15 V3 and the Yamaha MT15 are both aggressive bikes. However, the Yamaha R15 V3 is a bit too aggressive due to the posture of the bike.

All in all, if you are planning on buying either of these two bikes, you can decide using these criteria's. There are more criteria's to be considered, but these three criteria's should be considered as the primary ones.
