New Distributor for TVS Motorcycles in Bangladesh: Pran RFL

Last updated on 23-Oct-2025 , By Noor

Popular motorcycle Brand TVS, they found a new distributor in the Bangladesh market. From now on, Pran RFL Company is the new distributor for TVS motorcycles there. Before this, TVS motorcycles in Bangladesh were sold by a company called TVS Bangladesh Automobiles Limited.

Pran RFL is the new distributor for TVS Motorcycles in Bangladesh

The deal between TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited and the main TVS Motor Company for distribution, it finished on September 30, 2025. They didn't renew it. So, you can say, the new distribution deal with Pran RFL Company, it started on October 1, 2025.

Last year, 2024, TVS, they kinda slowed down their work in the Bangladesh market. People were talking, like, TVS was looking for a new distributor in Bangladesh. Names like Bashundhara Group, Fakir Group, Jamuna Group, Runner Automobiles, Pran RFL, they were all mentioned. But in the end, Pran RFL got the chance to be the new TVS distributor for Bangladesh.

Just recently, Pran RFL, they talked with some of the old TVS Bangladesh dealers all over the country. That's how folks found out about Pran RFL and TVS working together. Also, some workers from TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited, they been let go for a few months. Finally, this October, at a staff meeting, they said Pran RFL will sell TVS now. But Pran RFL, they haven't said anything official about it yet.

Will Pran RFL make TVS motorcycles?

From different sources, we hear that making TVS motorcycles in Bangladesh, it will stay with TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited. Pran RFL, they just gonna do the selling. If things stay like this, we hope there won't be any lack of TVS motorcycles in the market.

Now, if Pran RFL starts making their own bikes for Bangladesh, there will be a shortage of bikes for like, 18 months. Because, to start making motorcycles from nothing, it usually takes that long.

And since the motorcycle rules came out in 2017, no motorcycle company's ownership has changed. So, for Pran RFL Company to change ownership and start making bikes, it will take a good while, with all the hard parts they gotta deal with.

Will new TVS motorcycles and scooters come?

Yeah, new models will come for sure. TVS has 180 cc, 200 cc Apache RTR, 125 cc FI Ntorq scooter, those are in the plans, and more motorcycle models will come to Bangladesh too. Plus, their new 300 cc Apache RTX300, it might come to the market. Many people, they might hope, will the TVS 300 cc sports bike Apache RR310 come?! We think it's not likely to come to the Bangladesh market in the next 2 years. Because BMW's parts are used to make it. BMW, they won't just share that tech for making it in other countries.

Why TVS changed its distributor?

There's some stuff going around in the market 'bout this. But what we guess is, TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited, they imported too many bikes, like 75,000 units, and they piled up in their stock by late 2023. They started selling these in early 2024 to clear them out and get their money back. For a long time, they didn't order any new bikes or models from TVS India. Any main company, they always push their sellers to keep selling their stuff. But TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited, they were busy clearing old stock and taking their time not ordering new bikes, and TVS India, they didn't like that.

Who got something good from TVS being quiet?

TVS Ntorq 125 is a real popular scooter in Bangladesh. Not many were available, so Suzuki Access 125 sold more. Then, the new TVS Striker 125, it didn't come out, so Hero Xtreme 125, it took over that part of the market. Also, the popular 150 cc bike was TVS Apache RTR, but now people are buying Suzuki Gixxer Monotone and Yamaha FZ series instead. And most of the people who bought TVS's 100 to 110 cc commuter bikes, they switched to HERO. You can see this clearly if you look at HERO's sales numbers for the last 2 years.

What challenges will Pran RFL face?

  • Pran RFL, they're not really a motorcycle business. So, they might try to get into the Bangladesh motorcycle market with their usual offices and staff who don't know much about bikes. This means they'll have big problems, especially with fixing bikes after you buy them and with advertising.
  • Right now, there are three main groups dealing with TVS in Bangladesh: TVS India, Pran RFL, and TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited. So, not talking enough and making decisions slowly between these three, that's gonna be a big problem.
  • From what we've seen before, Indian brands, they always think their product is the best. So, they don't wanna admit that their bikes need to get better over time or be changed a bit for Bangladesh's roads. For example, people in Bangladesh, they like a bit fatter tires on their bikes, and it makes them feel safer. But Indian brands, they say fatter tires will make their bikes use more gas. That's true, but they just ignore what our customers want.

When TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited was selling bikes, they used to bring different TVS models to Bangladesh, drive them around on the roads for a while to see if they were good for our roads and customers, and then start selling them. There's a worry if the new Pran RFL can do that much.

  • It doesn't seem like Pran RFL will want to bring new bike models to Bangladesh right away. Because TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited is still making bikes. And to make Pran RFL want to build their own factory fast, or take over TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited's factory, they probably won't give them new models.
  • Pran RFL, they always push to sell their stuff. And our motorcycle market, it's pretty much based on push-sales too. But if TVS doesn't do things for bikers, like for their lifestyle or online groups, like before, then people won't get excited about the brand. And to make people excited again, it will take them at least 1.5 to 3 years.

Good things for Pran RFL

  • Pran RFL, they might get some extra good stuff when they start selling motorcycles and later making them. They can get most of the plastic parts for motorcycles from their plastic factory. Then, they can quickly be called a Category-1 manufacturer. This means they'll pay less tax and can also make their product prices really competitive. (**But in Bangladesh, no one lowers prices, they just make more money 😊)
  • Pran RFL is a big business group in Bangladesh, and a lot of their workers use motorcycles. All these people, they can be made to use TVS motorcycles. You can call it an automatic sale, and it's a lot of sales.
  • Pran RFL's chance to really make a difference in the Bangladesh market through TVS Automobile Bangladesh Limited, it was less than what they can do through Pran RFL. Because Pran RFL is a separate and very big company, and they do a lot of business in India too.

Plus, they already know how to talk with foreign companies and communicate. So, you can say Pran RFL will do business their own way. And if they start making bikes, they might also send bikes made in Bangladesh to the Seven-Sisters part of India and get tax benefits, like Runner Automobile did when they sent Runner motorcycles to Nepal.

Well, no matter how it starts, we wish Pran RFL all the best. We really want to see new TVS motorcycles in Bangladesh soon, and we truly ask Pran RFL to do more for the safety of bikers and road safety in this country. Bangladeshi bikers are waiting for Pran RFL's official announcement, and we hope they won't have to wait much longer.
