Honda CB200X – A Budget Adventure Tourer?

Last updated on 07-Oct-2024 , By Badhon Roy

The globally renowned Japanese brand Honda is quite popular in Bangladesh as well. Among adventure tourer or ADV lovers in Bangladesh, one of the most popular names is the Honda CB150x, which is not officially available. The bike is sold at a high price in the gray market, and there are concerns about the availability of spare parts.

One of the most popular ADV bikes in Honda’s international lineup is the Honda CB200x. The slogan "Explore Life With Every Ride" highlights its touring performance. Although there is no official update on whether this bike will be available in Bangladesh soon, many ADV enthusiasts in the country have become interested in the CB200x due to its similarity to the newly launched Hornet 2.0. So, let’s take a closer look at the details of this adventure tourer from Honda.

Honda CB200X – Design

The Honda CB200x sports the typical design of an adventure tourer category bike. Compared to the Hornet 2.0, it has a noticeable ADV-shaped extended body kit. Because of this, many refer to it as the faired version of the Hornet. The aggressive and modern look is emphasized by USD suspension, split seats, a muscular tank design, all-LED lights, indicators with knuckle guards, and a large wind visor. The aerodynamic under-cowl, similar to that of the Hornet 2.0, is both practical and sporty. In the international market, the bike comes in three attractive dual-tone color combinations, which provide a strong road presence and have been praised in international reviews.

Honda CB200X – Engine Specifications

According to international specifications, the CB200x is powered by the same BS VI technology, programmed fuel-injected (PGM-FI) air-cooled single-cylinder, 184.40 cc 4-stroke engine from the Hornet 2.0. This engine produces a maximum power of 16.6 horsepower at 8,500 RPM and a maximum torque of 15.5 Nm at 6,000 RPM. The bike features a wet multiplate assist and slipper clutch, and the 5-speed gearbox offers smooth and quick response in every gear. The top speed of the bike can range between 125–135 km/h.

Honda CB200X – Features

Some of the notable features of the CB200x include:

Seat Height, Weight, and Ground Clearance: The bike has a seat height of 810 mm and a ground clearance of 167 mm. Despite the body kit, the 147 kg curb weight ensures a well-balanced ride.

Ignition System: Self-electric ignition.

New Digital Instrument Cluster: Like the Hornet 2.0, the CB200x features a fully digital instrument cluster that displays fuel level, multiple trip meters, speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, service indicator, battery voltage indicator, turn-by-turn navigation, ABS indicator, side stand indicator, riding mode, and a clock. The cluster is equipped with an onboard diagnostics (OBD) feature that can notify the rider of potential issues with the bike. Additionally, the cluster’s brightness can be adjusted in 5 levels.

LED Headlamp: The DRL and headlamp on the bike are aggressive yet practical, offering excellent light output.

Short Sporty Muffler Exhaust: The short sporty muffler system not only provides a deeper bass sound but also ensures a better riding experience and enhances the bike’s premium feel.

Upright Handlebar Position: Since it's an ADV-shaped bike, the upright handlebar position ensures a comfortable riding experience.

Knuckle Guard with LED Indicators: The bike is equipped with knuckle guards that not only protect the rider’s wrists in case of accidents but also reduce wind resistance. The knuckle guards with LED indicators add practicality and improve the bike’s overall look.

Tubeless Tires: The tire size of the bike is 110/70-17 at the front and 140/70-17 at the rear. The tubeless tough tread-pattern multipurpose tires ensure better performance on various road conditions and reduce the risk of punctures or leaks.

Brakes: The bike is equipped with a 276 mm front disc brake and a 220 mm rear disc brake. It also features a single-channel ABS system that proves helpful during rainy or emergency braking situations.

Suspension System: The bike’s suspension system includes upside-down forks (USD) at the front and a multi-adjustable mono-shock absorber at the rear, making the ride more comfortable.

Engine Kill Switch and Hazard Indicator: Like the Hornet 2.0, the CB200x also comes with an engine kill switch. The hazard indicator is useful for signaling in emergencies or on foggy roads.

Mileage: With a total fuel capacity of 12 liters, the bike can deliver a mileage of around 50 kilometers per liter. Considering it’s a higher-cc bike, this mileage is quite impressive; in fact, many 150cc bikes offer less mileage. However, fuel quality and riding style can affect the mileage.

In summary, the Honda CB200x shares many similarities with the Hornet 2.0. Riders can choose between the two based on their needs. Due to its higher cc and attractive features, the Hornet 2.0 has already gained popularity in the Bangladeshi market. We hope that, as it is manufactured in India, the CB200x might also make its way to Bangladesh soon, offering a reasonable price and establishing a strong position in the ADV segment under Honda Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd.
