The Dakar Rally is one of the most famous and extreme off-road motorsports events in the world and remains at the top of interest for motorsport enthusiasts globally. The highly thrilling event held in Saudi Arabia has already hosted its prologue or qualifying round for this year’s edition. In this prologue stage a new record was set as 20-year-old Spanish rider Edgar Canet claimed the title of the youngest winner in Dakar Rally history.

Representing the Red Bull KTM Racing Team Edgar Canet completed the race in 11 minutes 31 seconds and 9 milliseconds. Finishing just 3 seconds behind him in second place was Australian rider and current champion Daniel Sanders who is also from the same racing team.
The third place was secured by American rider Ricky Brabec from the Honda Racing Team who completed the race in 11 minutes 37 seconds. Another KTM Racing rider Luciano Benavides finished fourth while Ross Evan Branch from the Hero MotoSports Racing Team claimed fifth position.

Looks like KTM is dominating the Dakar Rally this year. With a new record for the youngest winner in Dakar Rally history already set and the extremely narrow time gaps among some of the most elite rally-raid racers it is clear that this year’s Dakar Rally final stages are shaping up to be far more exciting than in previous years.
