Downfall Of Several Chinese Motorcycle Brands In Bangladesh - Reasons And Solutions To Overcome

Last updated on 11-Jan-2026 , By Badhon Roy

Beside Japanese and Indian motorcycles Chinese brands also have a noticeable presence in the Bangladeshi motorcycle market. Due to comparatively lower prices, good looks, and reasonable performance for the price many motorcycle buyers in our country are attracted to Chinese motorcycles.

Despite this it is often seen that many chinese motorcycle brands perform quite well in the startup phase but later collapse and become a burden for customers due to various reasons. Brands like Haojue, Taro, Zontes, Keeway, Benelli, Bennett, Megelli, Bittle-Bolt and several others have disappeared and there are rumors that many more brands are currently at risk.

Today we will try to understand the reasons behind the downfall of Chinese motorcycle brands in Bangladesh and what solutions could help them recover.

Downfall Of Several Chinese Motorcycle Brands In Bangladesh - Reasons

1. Lack Of Trust

There is still a common misconception or saying among consumers that China products do not last long. There was a time when the quality and durability of Chinese products available in Bangladesh were very poor. As a result, complete trust in Chinese motorcycle brands has not yet been established among Bangladeshi users. This lack of confidence is one of the major reasons why comparatively weaker brands fail to survive in the competitive market.

2. Servicing And Spare Parts Crisis

The biggest reason behind the disappearance of Chinese brands is the inability to ensure adequate servicing and spare parts support. Selling a bike does not end the responsibility because regular servicing and spare parts availability are essential for proper usage. Unfortunately most Chinese brands have shown negligence in ensuring service support and spare parts availability. Because of this many customers still hesitate even when considering relatively established Chinese brands.

3. Low Resale Value

According to the Bangladeshi bike market Chinese motorcycles have very low resale value. When a customer wants to upgrade their current bike they do not receive an expected resale price from Chinese bikes. This continues to be a major challenge for Chinese brands.

4. Poor Build Quality And Lack Of Durability

Several Chinese brands suffered from very poor build quality which led to widespread criticism among riders and users. Even after purchasing attractive aggressive-looking bikes with hard-earned money customers experienced frequent problems within a short period and the overall riding experience was disappointing. This is why brands like Bennett and Megelli eventually collapsed.

5. Brand Value And Biker Connectivity

Compared to Indian and Japanese brands Chinese brands naturally have lower brand value in Bangladesh. For the insufficient focus on biker engagement and proper product marketing has pushed customers toward Indian or Japanese brands instead of taking risks. As a result many brands failed to survive in the market despite offering good motorcycles.

Possible Steps Can Help Chinese Brands To Recover?

In the current competitive market Chinese brands can recover if they take the right steps. First they must ensure proper product quality through strict quality control during manufacturing or import. The most critical factor after that is after-sales service which means ensuring nationwide availability of servicing and spare parts.

Appointing dedicated field officers to promote spare parts at local motorcycle parts shops can help increase retailer interest. In addition even if not in every district region-based service centers with skilled technicians are essential.

To increase brand value and biker connectivity brands need to organize activities where riders can directly learn about the motorcycles and after-sales services and take test rides to experience real riding feedback. This will increase brand awareness and allow customers to make informed decisions based on firsthand experience.

In conclusion, the saying China products do not last long can be proven wrong by Chinese brands if they choose to do so. Chinese motorcycles are capable of offering good service and strong product quality. The best examples are CFMOTO and Lifan.

These brands have significantly improved their product quality and have already established spare parts availability and servicing support in many regions gaining customer satisfaction. We hope other Chinese companies will learn from them and work toward building a more competitive market by offering quality motorcycles at reasonable prices for bikers.
