Can Honda CB200X Be A Game Changer ADV In Bangladesh?

Last updated on 11-Nov-2024 , By Badhon Roy

The recently launched Honda Hornet 2.0 has already gained a good response among bikers in Bangladesh. With a powerful engine, up-to-date features, attractive looks, and an aggressive reasonable price it has quickly become popular. Based on the same engine and chassis, Honda’s adventure touring bike the Honda CB200x, is already quite popular in the international market and we guess that has potential in our market.

Can Honda CB200X Be A Game Changer ADV In Bangladesh?

In Bangladesh, options in the ADV segment are very limited, and most are unofficial and overpriced. If Honda officially introduces the Honda CB200x in Bangladesh, it could be a game changer.

According to international reviews, the two bikes (Hornet 2.0 and CB200x) differ only slightly in terms of appearance. The Hornet 2.0 has a naked sports design, whereas the CB200x features an adventure touring body kit. The weight difference between the two bikes is just 5 kg.

Another notable difference is the tire type; while both bikes have the same tire sizes (front: 110/70-17, rear: 140/70-17), the CB200x uses tubeless, tough-thread pattern multipurpose tires enhancing its off-road and adventure capabilities.

Both bikes feature the same 184.40 cc PGM-FI engine, assist and slipper clutch, single-channel ABS, LED headlight, taillight, indicators, and upside-down suspension. Additional features on the CB200x include knuckle guards with LED indicators and an upright handlebar.

If Bangladesh Honda Private LTD officially brings in the CB200x the maintenance, servicing, and spare parts availability should be as similar and convenient as with the Hornet 2.0 because most of the parts of both bikes are similar, and technicians are already trained with the Hornet 2.0.

According to current rules in Bangladesh, higher cc bikes must be assembled and sold locally (CKD), so this process reduces additional duties and taxes. This should make the CB200x affordable for general bikers similar to the Hornet 2.0.

Therefore, it will foster a competitive ADV market and relieving riders of the challenges of buying unofficial ADV bikes at high prices including service and spare part maintenance unavailability. In summary, our small observation suggests that the Honda CB200x has a strong potential to be a game changer or "segment killer" in the ADV Motorcycle segment.
